Is attachment to God, Lord, Bhagwan, Ishwar, Brahman, Divinity okay?
We know that attachment is not good. We should not be attached to any material thing. Responsibilities or duties can be done without attachment. Purush is in Prakriti but observes everything without attachment. So, how is attachment to Ishwar justified? How is this attachment different than other attachments?
- So, first of all, Ishwar is not a material thing. Attachment towards material things is not equivalent to attachment towards Ishwar.
- We are part of the Brahman and goal is to become one with him. So, it is not real attachment. It is the goal or purpose of life.
- If we believe that everything is part of Brahman and we say that we are attached to Ishwar then it means that we are attached to everything. Attachment to Ishwar is attachment to everything as he is all-pervading.
- Attachment to Ishwar is attachment to one's inner self as both are one, different but one.
- Think, what do you mean by attachment to Ishwar. Are we talking about attachment to manifested Ishwar with a form or unmanifested/Aroop form of Ishwar? Remember Vishnu has ten avatars. Do we feel attached to Visnu in his Matsya, Boar, or Narsimha avatar? Or we feel attached to his Ram avatar form? If we feel attached to Ram and Krishn but not to Boar or Narsimha then we are not attached to real or true Ishwar. We are attached to that selective, beautiful, material body in which he manifests himself or takes avatar.
