Circle Movie

Circle Movie

Circle is a 2015 movie directed by Aaron Hann and Mario Miscione. The movie duration is one hour and 26 minutes.
This movie holds the attention from start to end. Almost all of the movie occurs in one room where people are standing in circles and talking. In the end, viewers are compelled to ask themselves what they will do in these situations. This makes the audience introspect and access their own values and beliefs.

  • It shows that intelligence pays off.
  • Some people have empathy and compassion irrespective of the situation while for some these emotions come only when their own life is not in danger.
  • It also shows that our life is in someone's control. He decides who lives, who dies at what time, and where.
  • We do not have free will. Someone decides our destiny.
  • People have deep-seated biases and strong opinions which they express whenever they get a chance.
  • Superficial behavior does not reflect inner thinking.
  • At the end of kalyug, many people will die. Only a few good people will make it to the next Satyug. In circle movie, many people die and only a few intelligent ones survive. These intelligent ones are the cunning ones, not good ones.
  • A few people see things clearly, think ahead, assess the situation, and manipulate people around them. They are thinking of their own benefit while portraying that they are other's well-wishers.
  • It shows how people feel, react, and make decisions based on the circumstances.
  • It shows the lengths humans can go to save their own lives.
  • There is an exposure of people's prejudices.

The movie ends with all winners going out towards an alien ship. Now the questions are-
For how long these winners are going to live? Have they become immortal? How are they going to live knowing that they killed many for their own survival? That they betrayed many including elderly, weak, fetus, pregnant lady, a child, etc.
All survivors are cunning, selfish, and killer people, so how the new world is going to be? How these survivors are going to behave with each other?

A more gruesome and somewhat similar movie is "The Platform".
