Minimum wage for kids

I think it’s really stupid that kids have a lower minimum wage than adults. People under 20 can, legally, not get less than 4.25 dollars an hour, but I think that’s really low, even for a kid. Minors usually work to get money for themselves or to support their family. How can you support a family if you are getting less than 10 bucks for working two whole hours? I think it should be the same as the federal minimum wage for adults, which is $7.25 per hour. Obviously doing chores doesn’t count as an occupation so there’s no minimum to how kids get paid. I also found out that occupations like babysitting are not subject to the minimum wage law. I also found out that a lot of teenagers work in fields where they have no experience, and they get paid minimum wage, but most employers give their employees student discounts, so if you are a 16-year-old teenager, and you work at a gas station, you could get food or stuff for less money. Basically, I think kids should have the same minimum wage as adults. Editor: Bharti Raizada
