Springfield

On Tuesday I went to Springfield with my class. It was one of our field trips that the 5th grade takes every year. The bus drive there is 3 hours one way, Everyone got to school really early at 6:00 and we left by 6:15. We didn't take a normal school bus, instead the entire fifth grade, which is 4 classes, took 2 coach buses. The seats in the bus were good and comfortable. I sat next to my friend Caden. I took my phone, with which I downloaded Netflix shows and Spotify music for the ride. About 2 hour shift into the trip we stoped at a rest area to stretch our legs and go to the bathroom. After 3 long hours we finally arrived to Springfield. Our first stop was the Lincoln house. I took my phone and took a lot of pictures. The house was pretty cool and fancy for the 1800's. A guide showed us the different rooms and things. Our next stop was the Lincoln tomb. The outside of the tomb was very grand and featured a huge obelisk. The tomb had many statues of Lincoln leading to the burial chamber. Lincoln was buried ten feet underground because one time somebody had tried to rob his body. Not just Lincoln was buried there though, his entire family, inlcluding his wife and three sons were buried there. But his oldest son, Robert, was buried at Arlington National Cemeteery because he served in the military. Another tour guide was st the tomb, though the tour wasn't very long. Then the classes hooped on the buses to the next stop, which was the picnic tables. Our class was required to bring our own lunches(which had to be disposable) I went to the souvenir shop there and brought a giant penny and a military helicopter pencil sharpener. My chaperone was Mr. Baron, who is a really nice teacher, and my group was me, Caden, Mekhi, Darryl, Christopher, and Dashiell. We stayed at the musuem for two hours. They were two cool movies. I went to the gift shop there and brought a cool lincoln shirt with sunglasses. Then 5th grade went to the New State Capital. There was a tour guide who showed us the senate chamber, the house of rep chamber, and the governor's office. THen we went to the old state capitol. It was cool. Then 5th grade went to Golden Corral for dinner. It was AWESOME. There was SO MUCH FOOD.Golden Corral is a HUGE buffet with pizza, noodles, steak, fried chicken, onion rings, french fries, a salad bar, and a lot more stuff. There was a dessert section with cakes, gummy bears, marshmallow, A CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN!, Rice Krispies, ICE CREAM and pies. The food was so good and I took so much stuff. We ate for about 45 minutes. At about 6:00 pm, we jumped on the bus and headed back.

ON the bus the driver played Wreck-It-Ralph and Rio on the dvd players. My phone died so I couldn't use it. I sat in the back of the bus with all my friends, and we talked about things. THe bus ride seemed SO LONG! We got back to Skinner West at 9:45 where all our parents were waiting for us. My favorite stop was the museum since the short movies there were cool. I liked the souvenirs I brought. Next year 6th grade will go to Madison, Wisconsin. I liked the trip overall and would give it 4.5 stars. The 4.5 is because the bus ride was so long. It was a fun trip. :-)
