In my life so far, I've played a decent amount of video games. I usually play on PC since its superior to other gaming platforms in every way, but I won't go into that. Most of the time, I usually only play a few games and don't switch it up too often. Most gamers are like this, and find games that they like and are good at, and stick with that game. Over the years, my tastes in video games have changed a lot, and I realize some game I used to like seem childish and dumb now.
As of right now, my absolute favorite pc game is Counter Strike: Global Offensive. Its by a game developer called Valve. Valve has a long history of making great games that everyone likes, including Team Fortress and Dota 2, both games which I used to and still play. My brother especially liked Dota 2, since its a game which requires a lot of skill. Counter Strike: Global Offensive, popularly abbreviated as CS:GO is one of the expansions in Valves Counter Strike series. CS:GO is a first person shooter, also known as a fps. It requires you to take the role as two sides fighting for an objective, with these sides being the Counter-Terrorists and Terrorists, known as CT’s and T’s. The game is played on a map with two bomb sites, and 5 players on each side. The CT’s always spawn near the bomb sites to defend them, and the T’s spawn on the opposite side of the map. There are two ways for either side to win in CS:GO. For the T’s, its to work there way towards a bombsite, and plant a bomb that one of the T players carries. They have a minute to do this, and after planting, there's a minute before the bomb “explodes”. In this time frame, the objective of the CT’s is to defuse the bomb, which takes 8 or 4 seconds depending if you have a defuse kit. The other way for both sides to win is top completely eliminate the other team, which happens quite often. If the bomb is planted and all the T’s die, the bomb still needs to be defused by the CT’s. One of CS:GO’s most interesting element is the economy. You always start with a 1000 dollars, and get money for bomb plants, bomb defusal, and winning or losing the round. Obviously you get more money if you win the round. You also get kill rewards based on the weapon you are using at the time. This varies for every weapon. Stronger weapons can be bought in CS:GO for more money. You can also buy armor, which will increases the damage you can take, defusal kits for the CT’s, and grenades. The grenades in CS:GO include flashbangs, which will blind anyone who sees it go off for a short duration, smoke grenades, which when thrown, will make a spherical field of smoke preventing site, very useful for taking bomb sites and blocking enemy angles. There's also a standard grenade, called a high explosive, which does damage to enemies when contacting them. The last grenade is called a molotov or an incendiary grenade depending which side you are on. When thrown, these grenades make a small area of fire which does damage to players. Smokes and molotovs are very useful to hold off enemies or force them out of a position. Grenades are crucial to being to being a good CS:GO player.
Actually being good at CS:GO takes a tremendous amount of skill and practice. I enjoy playing CS:GO since I always want to get better at it, and it's interesting to see yourself grow and improve. You also learn a lot about the maps and weapons once you play.
Upon reading my description of how the game works, most people would think thats its a bad game with tons of violence and bad messages like terrorism, but im pretty sure everyone whos played it disagrees, Even though theres guns and stuff like that, I dont feel any aggression, and im pretty sure that after playing this game, no ones going to go try to plant a bomb somewhere. It's just a game after all. CS:GO is actually a huge E-sport, and competitive CS:GO players get a ton of money. CS:GO hosts tons of tournaments and invitationals every year Besides CS:GO, and not going into details, some of my other favorites, ranked, include:
Planetside 2 Rust Red Eclipse Borderlands 2 Team Fortress 2 FTL (Faster Than Light) Portal Portal 2 Hitman: Blood Money
Most of these games need a lot of skill and good aim to play. Even though the PC is my chosen platform, I also play quite a bit of console games, at friends houses and on my own PS4. Personally, I like PS4 more because of its controller, and PS4 also has a ton of free to play games, and there PlayStation Plus is in my opinion, very fair, giving you new free games every month and giving you online capabilities. Some of my favorite PS4 games, not ranked, include:
Hitman 2 Dead By Daylight Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Watch Dogs 2 Warface Brawlhalla
For me, playing on a console is a less serious method of gaming, taking away some of the stress and skill required to compete against good PC players, in almost any game. Holding a controller also means you don't have to sit in a chair and can be flexible with you TV/monitor.
There's tons of new video games coming out soon, and these are some of the ones I look forward to.
Watch Dogs 3: Legion GTA 6 Borderlands 3 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint
VR video games are also emerging more and more now, and are very interesting, I don't think that I’ll personally try VR, as it’s expensive and still relatively new technology. That's all for now.

I think that video games are a good time passer, and that playing them helps you socialize with friends and gives you something to do all day. Some reasons to play video games are:
-They are fun and can help with anxiety and stress -You usually socialize with other people while playing; making it a bonding experience and it allows you to get closer to your friends -Contrary to popular belief, video games help your decision making skills, and things like hand-eye coordination, and definitely problem solving -Video games often make you persevere through things and you get an attitude of not giving up, which is why some gamers play as much as they do. -They help you think faster and differently than other people -Video games make you think about what you are doing, and some slow-paced video games let you think carefully -Professions like medicine (surgeons and other doctors) need great hand-eye coordination; almost all gamers have excellent hand-eye coordination -It is the new pastime of Gen-z, as you cannot go outside to play all the time, and books have a limit.
- It is also much more stimulating than going outside or reading a book and playing video games can actually help you learn about many things -Violent video games do not actually make people violent, the cases where video games are the cause of violence is usually people who spend their whole day playing ultra-violent video games, and have depression or some other mental disorder. -Gamers make faster decisions than anyone else makes, and are very knowledgeable about the things they play and the world around them. -Having something fun to do all day with your friends is a solution to not being able to go outside or to your friend’s house
Why I think you are wrong to not let me play video games I think you are wrong to not let me play video games since it is simply what everyone does now, that does not mean i am following anyone, it means that it is a good time killer and is fun to do. Fun does not mean addictive, as everyone has a different idea of fun, it could be hiking in the forest, or it could be playing video games with a few of your friends. Video games are often a backdrop for conversation. When I play with my friends, most of the time we are talking and gaming is just something to fill up time. I cannot always go to my friend’s house or spend the day inside, and there is simply not enough stuff to do at home other than screens. I think video games are much better than sitting on my phone since I do believe that phones make you lazy and are bad for your health. Playing video games forces you to be attentive and sitting in a good posture. Video games are also purely for entertainment, and it is not hard to stop. I have never had any symptoms of addiction other than getting mad when you take away my stuff and give me nothing to do. If you can truly find something that is fun for me to do, which I am open to, then I will happily not play video games, but until I can see it, video games are the best option for me to pass time and are not bad for my health. Video games are a great bonding experience; brother and I often talk about a game we both used to play for significantly longer than we would ever talk. Moreover, by significantly I mean like 20 minutes every day, which is not addiction, its sharing something interesting and fun.
